Title: My Music, Hobbies and Life Experiences

Subject: English

Description

Students will produce a personal video in English about their musical preferences, hobbies, leisure activities and life experiences. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate their ability to communicate ideas clearly while applying the grammar and vocabulary studied in class.

The student must show their face during the video and use English subtitles throughout the recording. Before filming, the student must prepare and submit a written script to the teacher for approval.

Learning objectives

By completing this activity, students will be able to:

• Use the Past Perfect to describe previous experiences and events.

• Apply reflexive and reciprocal pronouns correctly.

• Report statements and questions using reported speech.

• Use causative structures, comparative adverbs and the third conditional.

• Express wishes and regrets using wish.

• Talk about music, musical instruments, hobbies and leisure.

• Use ten common English phrasal verbs in meaningful contexts.

• Improve pronunciation, fluency, writing and digital communication skills.

SEE – Explore the topic

Before preparing the video, reflect on the following questions:

1. What kind of music do you enjoy, and why?

2. Which musical instruments can you play or would you like to learn?

3. What hobbies and leisure activities do you practice in your free time?

4. What had you done before you discovered your favorite hobby?

5. How do music and hobbies influence your life?

Research or review reliable English-learning resources to understand the grammar and vocabulary required for the project.

JUDGING : Review the language

Review the following topics in your notebook or English learning resources:

• Past Perfect.

• Reflexive and reciprocal pronouns.

• Reported statements and reported questions.

• Causatives: have/get something done and have/get someone do something.

• Comparative adverbs.

• Third conditional.

• Wish for present situations and past regrets.

• Music, musical instruments, hobbies and leisure.

• Common phrasal verbs.

The student must include at least one example of each required grammar topic in the video. All examples must be meaningful and connected to the chosen topic.

ACTING : Produce your video

1. Write your script

Prepare a complete English script before recording. The script must contain the student's name, grade and title of the project.

The script must include:

• A brief introduction.

• A description of musical preferences or a favorite musical instrument.

• A description of hobbies and leisure activities.

• Personal experiences using the Past Perfect.

• Reflexive and reciprocal pronouns.

• Reported speech and reported questions.

• Causative structures.

• Comparative adverbs.

• Third conditional sentences.

• Wish sentences.

• At least ten common phrasal verbs used in context.

The script must be submitted to the teacher for review and approval before recording.

2. Record the video

The student must show their face while speaking in English. The video may be recorded with a cellphone or computer.

Requirements:

• Individual work.

• The student's face must be visible.

• Speak clearly and use appropriate pronunciation.

• Use English throughout the video.

• Add English subtitles for the entire recording.

• Include a title and a closing message.

• Do not read the script word for word without making an effort to communicate naturally.

3. Edit and submit

Edit the video to improve the sound, image, subtitles and organization. Students may use tools such as Canva, CapCut, Clipchamp or another appropriate video editor.

Submit the video through one of the following channels:

• Edupage: upload the video or share a link.

If the video is hosted on YouTube or another platform, verify that the link can be viewed by the teacher.

Creative feedback: Metacognition

After completing the project, reflect on the following questions:

1. Which grammar topic was the most difficult for you?

2. Which new English words or expressions did you learn?

3. How did recording yourself help you improve your speaking?

4. What would you change if you recorded the video again?

 

The video will be evaluated according to the rubric provided below.

Students should use all ten phrasal verbs naturally in the script or use different ones as they wish. They can change the verb tense when necessary.
